Hearing better involves more than wearing hearing aids. Hearing loss often develops gradually, giving the brain time to adjust to hearing less.
Hi Fidelity Hearing Clinic includes aural rehabilitation as part of the hearing care we provide.
As more sounds return, your brain needs time to process them again. Aural rehabilitation combines education, listening strategies and practical guidance to help you adjust to those changes.
What Is Aural Rehabilitation?
Aural rehabilitation is a personalized process that helps you manage hearing loss in real-life situations. We explain what your hearing test means.
We also discuss what changes you can expect as you begin hearing more sounds and why some listening situations are easier than others.
We work with you on communication strategies, hearing aid use and care and ways to handle conversations in places with background noise. Family members are encouraged to take part because hearing loss changes conversations for everyone.
Why It Matters
Hearing loss doesn’t just affect what you hear. It can also change conversations, phone calls and other parts of life. Hearing aids bring back sounds you may not have heard for some time, but hearing those sounds again is only part of the process.
We explain what these changes mean and how to work through them. It gives you time to ask questions, learn communication strategies and understand what to expect as you become more familiar with your hearing aids.
An Ongoing Process, not a Single Visit
Aural rehabilitation continues after your hearing assessment and hearing aid fitting. As you spend more time with your new hearing aids, you’ll likely have new questions and notice different listening experiences.
We use follow-up visits to talk through those changes and answer your questions.
Your hearing needs may change, and we’ll continue working with you as they do. We can review communication strategies, fine-tune your hearing aids and discuss any new listening situations you’d like to handle more comfortably.
